The rules and regulations apply to every member of Laurea, and they are applied in the everyday activities of the university community. The rules and regulations guarantee a safe study and working environment for members of the university community. Members of Laurea have a duty to maintain and promote the safety and comfort of the university community.

Good conduct

Disruptive, offensive or threatening behaviour is prohibited in all Laurea activities. Inappropriate behaviour or treatment will always lead to an internal intervention procedure that defines possible follow-up measures. All serious acts are reported to the police authorities.

Acts that violate another’s privacy or damage Laurea’s reputation in study, work and online environments are always addressed. In addition to the rules and regulations, members of Laurea must comply with other instructions and rules issued concerning Laurea’s activities. (See degree regulations, the ethical guidelines (pdf) and IT usage rules).

Substance-free and smoke-free

Laurea is a substance-free and smoke-free study and working environment. Possession of, use of, or being under the influence of intoxicants is prohibited in teaching and training situations. The use of alcohol for the purpose of intoxication is not permitted in the activities of the university community. Laurea follows a substance-free programme. In accordance with the Tobacco Act, smoking is prohibited indoors and in the immediate vicinity of entrances.

Careful handling of property and information

Property and information belonging to Laurea and members of the university community must be handled carefully. An act committed intentionally or through negligence may result in the actor being liable for compensation. Laurea is not responsible for the personal property of members of the university community.

Consequences of violating the rules and regulations

The rules and regulations are based on the Universities of Applied Sciences Act (932/2014). The sanctions resulting from violations of these rules are defined, among other things, in employment legislation, criminal and tort law, and in Laurea’s degree regulations.
