The study plan can be modified if necessary during the exchange, but changes must be recorded in the Learning Agreement section During Mobility and approved by both your home and host university by email or signatures
- Remember to register as present at Laurea/Pakki for the duration of your exchange.
- Keep in contact with both Laurea’s and the host university’s international coordinator (KV coordinator) or another agreed contact person if needed. Also follow Laurea’s and your degree programme’s information so your return will be smoother.
- Promote Laurea as an exchange destination to students at the host university. You can use ready-made English-language material about Laurea.
- Promote Laurea as an exchange destination to students at the host university. You can use ready-made English-language material about Laurea.
- The host institution usually sends the transcript of records (Transcript of Records) directly to the student or Laurea’s international (KV) team after your exchange ends. The transcript is needed for accreditation of prior learning, so remember to request it from the host institution.
- Remember to request a Letter of Confirmation (Erasmus or non-Erasmus) completed and signed by your host university’s coordinator at the end of your exchange! The form can be signed at the earliest one week before the exchange end date.
Important to remember
- Remember that you are responsible for your health and wellbeing during the exchange; take into account health and safety matters, e.g. traffic behaviour, accident prevention, nutrition, alcohol and drug use, contraception, protection against HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections.
- Everyone has to adapt to new cultures psychologically, physically and socially. The so-called “culture shock” is actually a positive sign that the individual is intensively engaged with the host culture.
- It is important to interact with representatives of both your own and the host culture, e.g. other international students or peer tutors. It is better and more effective to try to manage the natural stress caused by cultural encounters than to try to avoid it.
