Do you need software for your personal device?
Some of Laurea’s agreements allow you to download and use the same applications on your own devices that are used at Laurea. In most cases, access is linked to your student status, and the license is verified through, for example, your email address or by reactivating it periodically.
You can install and use several helpful apps on your own device for free or at a student-friendly price. These tools support your studies and include options like Microsoft 365, Windows 11, Adobe Digital Editions, SPSS and SnowFlake. Adobe Creative Cloud is also available with a student discount.
Microsoft 365 bundle (free)
Laurea’s students and staff may download the Office bundle for their personal devices from the O365 -service. The applications can be installed on limited number of devices (PCs/Macs or tablets). A Laurea user account can also be used to activate Office on an iPad or Smartphone.
By installing Office you agree to Microsoft’s End User License Agreement and Terms of Use/Service. If you use your account or a Laurea account to sign in to the service, you also agree to Microsoft’s Privacy statements. Please notice, that while Laurea is distributing the service, the original supplier is still Microsoft.
Office license expiration
The license to use Office is active as long as you also have an active Laurea account. Additionally, the Office installation will also check the license status every 30 days over the internet. After the license expires, Office can only be used to read and print documents. After this, you can re-activate Office by acquiring a license yourself.
Downloading the Office bundle
- Sign in to the O365 service, eg. https://portal.office.com/Home
- Enter your credentials in the form username@laurea.fi
- Sign in using a Laurea account
- If you do not see a download link, press the Office 365 link on the top-left corner of the page
Choose your language and click Install
Please notice that for compatibility and functionality purposes, it is always recommended to install the 32-bit version even if your computer is running a 64-bit Windows operating system.
The newest version of Office can be installed on five different computers. If you are using a Mac, the same page also has a download link for a Mac-version.
The Office 365 package cannot be installed on Chromebook devices.

Activation on Mac
Office can be activated by signing in with a Laurea account username@laurea.fi and accepting Microsoft’s privacy statement.
Microsoft Windows 11 (free)
The Windows 11 operating system and other software are available from Azure.
- Go to https://aka.ms/devtoolsforteaching in a private window
- Log in by choosing Sign In
- Enter your username in the format username@laurea.fi (do not try to log in with your email address firstname.lastname@student.laurea.fi)
- Verify your academic information, accept the terms and fill out your profile
- Select Learning Resources and Software from the left side
- Choose Windows 11 Education, Version 23H2 or newer from the list
- Remember to select View Key from the system window and save the Registration Key
- After this download the system by choosing Download
- Open the installation package and install the system
- Activate the license on the Windows Activate page

Adobe Digital Editions (free)
Downloadable e-books are protected by Adobe’s Digital Rights Management (DRM) software. Therefore, before reading the books, the user must install a DRM-compatible reading program on their device. On PCs and Macs, the Adobe Digital Editions program is used. For mobile devices, the application to download is called Adobe Digital Editions or Bluefire Reader.

The applications are not free and the price of the order is based on Adobe’s own pricing.
