Accepting a place as a degree student
When you have been accepted as a degree student from path studies, accept the degree student place in StudyInfo by the deadline indicated.
Registration for the academic year
In addition to accepting the study place, you must register as present or absent for the upcoming academic year in the electronic registration system (OILI). This also applies to those who studied in Laurea’s path studies (even if you have registered for next term’s course units).
You can access the OILI system via the My StudyInfo service at the same time as you accept the study place. If registration for the academic year via the OILI system is neglected, the student will not be transferred as a degree student into Laurea’s student register.
Please note that there are restrictions on registering as absent during the first academic year.
Your old username will remain
When you move from the path student role to the degree student role, a new student role will be created for you in which the study attainments you complete as a degree student will be recorded. However, your old username will remain unchanged. This also means that your Laurea email address remains the same and the files you have stored in OneDrive and on the H drive will be preserved.
Enrolment in studies
If you have registered as a path student for the next term’s studies, Student Services will transfer your registration to your new degree role before teaching starts. If you have unfinished studies from your time as a path student, you can continue them to completion under your degree role.
Transfer of study attainments to the new role
Student Services will transfer the study attainments you completed as a path student to your degree role approximately two months after the start of your study entitlement. You do not need to request the transfer of studies separately. Student Services will notify you when the transfer has been completed.
Please check your study attainments afterwards and contact Student Services if you have any questions concerning the transferred attainments.
The study attainments you complete as a degree student will be recorded automatically under your new student role.
If the path studies were completed at another university of applied sciences, contact the head of studies or your teacher tutor regarding the transfer of studies.
Pay the student health care fee to Kela
Since 2021, students pursuing a Bachelor´s degree or a master´s degree at a university of applied sciences are entitled to the services of the Finnish Student Health Service (YTHS). As a present degree student you must pay the health care fee to Kela by 31 January for the spring and by 30 September for the autumn. You will not be sent an invoice; the fee must be paid on your own initiative.
Student place obtained through the joint application
If you have been accepted through the joint application but have completed Open UAS studies at Laurea, your study entitlement starts at the same time as other new students. See the new student pages.
