Laurea’s English-language degree programmes and study modules make internationalisation a natural part of activities. International expert visits, theme days, events and projects are part of everyday life at Laurea. You can also have the opportunity to work internationally in various collaboration studies carried out virtually. You can also gain experience by applying to be a student tutor for international students and by participating in various language and communication studies.
Studying in a foreign language
Studying in a foreign language gives you the opportunity to internationalise not only through language but also through an internationally oriented curriculum and a multicultural student group. Laurea has several English-language degree programmes.
At Laurea there are good opportunities to promote your own internationalisation by studying languages and cultures. The broad language offering of Laurea, Haaga-Helia, Metropolia and Aalto University allows you to study even rare languages and cultures.
International online studies
Laurea’s extensive partner network offers the opportunity to participate in a wide range of international online studies. Our partner universities around the world organise both shorter conferences, international weeks (KV weeks) and online events as well as longer online courses and study modules.
Student tutoring
An effective way to internationalise, develop language skills and cultural knowledge as well as guidance and networking skills is to become a tutor for students coming from abroad. A tutor welcomes and guides students arriving at Laurea from different countries in practical matters and leisure activities.
In addition, especially exchange tutors work with international coordinators (KV planners) on various international tasks and thus acquire the international skills needed in working life.
Tutoring activities at Laurea are active and through them both the tutors’ internationalisation and Laurea’s international students are supported. Tutors are valuable support persons for students. Tutor training is organised twice per academic year. Selection and training of tutors is the responsibility of the student union Laureamko.
Work assignments with an international dimension
Your professional growth is also supported by work assignments with an international dimension and other international Learning by Developing (LbD) projects. These projects are carried out together with international partner universities or other organisations and with local working life actors.
This way you get to learn in real working-life situations, for example by doing your thesis for a company or organisation on some international topic. An international perspective can also be included in a project carried out in Finland, for example through multicultural content.
International expert visits, theme days and events
International expert visits, theme days and events are often open to all students and are announced through the events calendar.
