Ohita sivuvalikko

The next application period for internal transfer applications is open from 13 April 2027 at 08:00 to 26 April 2027 at 15:00.

Internal transfers can be applied for in two different ways:

1. as a transfer to the same degree programme via a transfer form (the degree does not change) or

2. as a transfer to another programme via Studyinfo (Opintopolku) (the degree title changes).

1. Transfer to the same programme, but you are applying for a change in one of the following:

  • Degree programme (e.g. from a business degree programme to a information technology degree programme)
  • Campus (e.g. transfer from Tikkurila to Leppävaara)
  • Language of instruction (English to Finnish)
  • Study mode (daytime ↔ blended learning)

Apply via the transfer form

2. Transfer to another programme at the same level (e.g. from one Bachelor´s degree to another) and you are applying to change the following:

  • Degree title of the programme (e.g. nursing degree ↔ social services degree)

Apply via StudyInfo (Opintopolku)

Students studying in commissioned degree-awarding education cannot apply for internal transfer.

Note. You may submit only one application in the same application round.

Tuition fees and application fees

At Laurea University of Applied Sciences tuition fees are charged from students whose citizenship is outside of EU/EEA/Switzerland and are registered as present in a Bachelor or Master degree programme taught in English.

However exemptions apply and therefore, prospective non-EU/EEA students intending to study in the degree programmes offered in English are advised to check their status below under “Tuition Fee Exemptions”.

For detailed information on tuition fees and possible exemptions, please see the tuition fee page.

The Laurea degree programmes taught in Finnish language do not have tuition fees.

Application fees have been introduced with the changes in the legislation considering application fees for applicants to degree programmes in higher education which entered into force 1 December 2024. Please see Studyinfo for details.

You are eligible to apply if:

  • At the time of application you have been enrolled as present at Laurea as a degree student for at least one semester. This means you are studying at least your second semester. OR
You are currently registered as absent, but you have been registered as present as a degree student at Laurea for at least one semester before the absence.
  • You have completed studies according to the credit amounts below:
    • In a Bachelor’s degree (AMK) at least 27 credits per semester
    • In a Master’s degree (YAMK) at least 15 credits per semester

The credit accumulation per semester is calculated by dividing the total number of credits by the attendance semesters used. For selection, study achievements verified on the official transcript of records by the end of the current academic year (31.7.) are taken into account (including partial completions). Credits granted as recognition of prior learning from your previous studies or degrees are not counted as study achievements.

Student selection

There are no pre-defined numbers of starting places in the internal transfer application. Admission decisions are always made on a case-by-case basis. Not all applicants seeking transfer can be granted a study place.

The following factors affect selections:

  • You have progressed in your studies purposefully and with good academic performance.
  • You have sufficient remaining study entitlement period to complete the degree within the target time
    • The target completion time for the degree is reduced by the time you have already used to study the degree you started. Your used attendance and absence semesters also transfer with the study entitlement.
      • For a Bachelor’s degree, the target time is 3.5 years for programmes of 210 credits and 4 years for programmes of 240 credits
      • For the master’s degree (YAMK) the target time for 90-credit programmes is 1.5 years
    • If you apply to transfer to another degree, the study entitlement period is always determined according to the new degree; however, the time you have already studied is included in it.
  • The studies you have completed are applicable to the degree you are applying for so that completing the degree within the target time is possible according to Laurea’s curriculum and course offering.
  • There is space in a group suitable for the stage of your studies.
  • The grounds you present in the application.
  • Sufficient language skills for higher education studies.
  • Transfer from a Finnish-language programme to an English-language programme is generally not possible due to degree language requirements. For very weighty reasons, the head of studies responsible for the programme may exceptionally consider a transfer.

Based on the above selection criteria, some applicants will be invited to a selection interview. Interview invitations are sent by email and interviews are arranged via Teams video connection. The head of studies makes the decisions on student selections. Decisions are communicated by email to all applicants.

If you believe the student selection has not been made in accordance with the selection criteria, first contact the head of studies who made the decision. If the matter is not resolved, you can request a written rectification of the decision concerning admission as a transfer student within 14 days of the publication of the selection results from the management of Laurea University of Applied Sciences.

Spring 2027 transfer application schedule

  • Interview invitations will be sent by email no later than week 18
  • Interviews will be held via Teams video during weeks 19-20
  • Decisions by email no later than week 20

Starting studies

A student selected in the transfer application will start in the new programme at the beginning of the autumn semester. The student must register as present. The student registers for semester courses according to the normal registration procedure based on guidance received from the teacher tutor or the head of studies.

Please read the instructions carefully. For further information, contact the head of student affairs of the receiving programme here.
