The study right refers to the period during which you can study and complete your degree at Laurea (the target duration of studies plus one additional year). Initially, only the target duration is shown in Pakki. If you do not graduate within the target time and have not yet used the additional year, it will be added automatically in October (autumn) and March (spring) before the enrolment and extension application periods begin.
To maintain your study right at the university of applied sciences, you must register each spring for the following academic year as either attending or non-attending. Registration is completed through the student desktop in Pakki.
You can complete your degree within the target time by earning 60 ECTS credits per year. The target duration depends on the extent of the degree:
- 210 ECTS degree: target duration 3.5 years
- 240 ECTS degree: target duration 4 years
- 90 ECTS degree: target duration 1.5 years
If you do not graduate within your study right period, you must apply for discretionary additional time before your study right expires. Once the study right expires, you will be considered withdrawn and can no longer complete studies or graduate from Laurea.
Discretionary additional time for the study right can be applied for during the following periods:
- 1 November – 30 November
- 1 May – 31 May
