According to Laurea’s degree regulations, the teacher is responsible for assessing the work completed during the implementation of a study unit or a project no later than four weeks from the completion date. The teacher must, however, ensure that the teacher in charge of the study unit or project will enter the grades awarded to the students into the study register no later than three weeks from the completion of the implementation unless other arrangements are necessary due to the teacher’s working time arrangements.

What to do if the grade is not in the study register on time?

If you have not received the grade by the date stated in the implementation plan, you should contact the teacher or teacher in charge and notify them of the missing evaluation. If you are unable to contact the teacher or teacher in charge, or the teacher fails to record the missing grade despite the contact, you can turn to the unit’s development manager. The development manager will determine the reason for the delay and will see to it that the missing grade will be recorded without delay.

Because of the teachers’ free periods and the periods without teaching in the summer, evaluations scheduled for June may not be entered into the study register until August. However, the date on which you complete a study performance is also the date of completion recorded in the study register. The credits entitling you to student financial aid must always be entered for the semester during which they are awarded.

If necessary, the teacher must be prepared to give an evaluation quickly so that your student financial aid is not suspended and there is no unnecessary delay in your graduation.

Assignments must be returned on time

When a study unit or project comprises more than one assessed element, you are responsible for ensuring that you have completed all required elements and returned all assignments and reports. For example, placement periods can only be assessed if the reports and learning assignments completed as part of it are returned by the agreed date. After you have completed all required elements and the study unit has ended, you must receive the evaluation of the study unit within three weeks.

You must complete/return all assignments on the agreed date. If you return an assignment after the agreed deadline, the teacher does not need to enter the evaluation into the study register by the deadline referred to above as the teacher must be given enough time to make the evaluation.

Late submissions are assessed according to the schedule set by the teacher

If you do not return the assignment/report on the agreed day, you will receive a failing grade for the assignment. The teacher will assess whether it is possible to return the assignment at a later date or whether competence can be demonstrated in some other way. Alternatively, the teacher may set a date when return is possible.

If the student does not receive a passing assessment despite the opportunity to supplement their performance, they must retake the course in a manner agreed with the teacher.
