PopUp Guidance (in Finnish Poikkeamo) serves students by appointment. 

What does Popup Guidance offer?

Popup Guidance provides information, advice, support and guidance on general matters related to studies and student well-being. The service is intended for

  • degree students,
  • path students and
  • exchange students.

You can contact us especially when your question is not related to a specific field of education but to studying in general. For special study-related issues, we will direct you to other services.

How does the service work?

  • You can book a time for a discussion on Teams.
  • During the meeting we can review instructions and systems together using screen sharing.
  • In addition, Popup Guidance organizes workshops, info sessions, webinars and peer groups to support study progress and student well-being.
  • Follow current announcements and the intra’s event calendar

Popup Guidance’s role in guidance

The primary actors who responsible for your guiding your studies are

  • your teacher tutor and
  • Head of Student’s Affairs.

At Popup Guidance we focus on initial and light guidance. We help you find the right information and support even when you cannot reach your teacher tutor.

Booking an appointment for discussion

  • Book a discussion time on Teams via the appointment link.
  • Use your Laurea email address when booking.
  • On the same form you can also book an appointment with a Special Education Teacher.
  • Note the division of work among Special Education Teachers and book a time according to the campus where you study.
  • After booking you will receive a calendar invitation containing a link to the Teams meeting.

Cancelling or rescheduling an appointment

  • You can cancel or reschedule the appointment via the link in the calendar entry.
  • Also send an email to the expert you booked the appointment with (firstname.lastname@laurea.fi).
  • Please note that there is currently a technical issue with the booking system and cancellations may not always be removed from the calendar automatically

What issues can you turn to Popup Guidance for?

You can drop by to discuss, for example:

  • questions related to studies
  • time management and the smoothness of studying
  • about how to use Pakki
  • learning difficulties (book an appointment with a Special Education Teacher)

In matters of student well-being, we focus on basic questions related to study ability. We do not have health care expertise, so for mental health issues we will refer you onwards if necessary.

Confidentiality

No customer register is kept of the discussions held at Popup Guidance meetings. The themes of discussions are recorded only at a general level for the purpose of developing services.
