Voluntary work

Volunteering means any work done for the benefit of other people, communities or the environment, carried out based on one’s own values. Volunteering offers you a unique opportunity to take part in society and wellbeing as well as to develop your own skills.

What can volunteering be, for example?

  • Producing content, e.g. for an organisation’s website or social media
  • Organising and coordinating collections of goods for a reception centre
  • Working on the helpline for children and young people (e.g. MLL)
  • Vanhustyön virikepäivien suunnittelua ja toteuttamista

How do I proceed?

Explore the options:

  • Volunteering as part of a course or project. Work in these is guided separately.
  • In a degree programme leading to a Bachelor´s degree you can enrol in the TO00BX38 Volunteering course (see the curriculum of the joint studies of complementary competence). Enrollment to the course is continuous. Through the implementation plan you can log in to Canvas, where there are instructions for starting the course and agreeing on the volunteering. You can receive a maximum of 5 credits for volunteering.
  • You can therefore look for a suitable volunteering partner yourself. See tips for finding a partner in the course’s Canvas workspace or at Vapaaehtoistyo.fi. Think about what, where, when and with whom you would like to act, and contact the organisation about it.
