Some modules include an exam, the date of which is recorded in the module’s implementation plan. You do not need to register for the actual exam. Failing to attend the actual exam counts as one attempt.

Exam arrangements

The exam begins when all participants have received the question papers. Participants may leave the exam room no earlier than 30 minutes after the start of the examination session, and similarly may arrive late to the exam at most 29 minutes after the start of the session. After that, late arrivals will no longer be admitted to the exam session. Being late does not extend the exam time.

  • The exam invigilator is responsible for ensuring that examination procedures are followed. The invigilator may remove a student from the exam who does not comply with the given examination procedures.
  • You must prove your identity to the exam invigilator upon request.
  • Your mobile phone must be switched off during the exam.
  • Only writing instruments and the tools or materials specifically listed by the teacher on the exam registration form may be used in exams. Other items such as bags or coats may not be taken to your seat.
  • You may have a water bottle with you during the exam, but no other food.
  • You must write your student number, first and last name, and your arrival group on every exam paper to be submitted.
  • A student from another campus or a student of the Open University of Applied Sciences must write the campus name or indicate that they are an Open University of Applied Sciences student on every exam paper to be submitted.
  • All exam papers (question papers, answer sheets, scrap paper) must be returned to the exam invigilator.

Exam cheating

Exam cheating always results in the exam being failed and the loss of the attempt.

In accordance with the degree regulations, a person found guilty of cheating may be punished with either a written warning or a temporary dismissal for up to one year. Before deciding on the sanction, the act or omission giving rise to the penalty must be identified, necessary clarification obtained, and the student must be given an opportunity to be heard in the matter. The written warning is decided by the President of the university of applied sciences and the temporary dismissal of a student is decided by the Laurea Board (Act 932/2014, Section 39).
