Studies at a university of applied sciences differ in many ways from your previous studies. The initial workload, the feeling of being rushed and new things can easily be intimidating.
Contact our special needs teacher if starting your studies feels difficult or if you later on experience challenges in studies. In the counselling meeting obstacles and challenges related to learning and studying will be identified and support measures considered.
Special needs teachers provide recommendations for arrangements for individual support. Examples of individual support arrangements include additional time for exams and assignments, a separate room for taking an exam, and complementing an exam orally.
Special needs teachers can write you a recommendation for individual support which can be approved by the teacher in charge of the study unit if needed. You may well find that for some study units you will need individual support, whereas for some study units you will not.
Services of the special needs teachers are available to the degree students in Laurea:
- Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students
- Path students
- Students of separate admissions and commissioned education groups
- Exchange students
