1. Book a graduation discussion appointment

When graduation approaches, book an appointment with your tutor teacher or the head of student affairs for a graduation discussion in which the following will be checked:

  • whether all study elements required for the degree have been completed
  • whether all credits are correctly recorded (e.g. recognized credits, exemptions, international exchanges, projects)
  • whether personal information has been registered correctly
  • whether the language entries are correct (language of previous education, language of maturity test, second domestic language, foreign language)
  • whether any additional qualification markings are recorded correctly (remember to mention this also in the graduation form).

When graduation approaches, book an appointment with your tutor teacher or the head of student affairs for a graduation discussion in which the following will be checked:

2. Save important information

Your user account remains active for 30 days after you have submitted the notice of graduation.

Please note that after the graduation date is recorded, you will have limited access to your information in Pakki and will only be able to open the Orders section in Pakki.

  • Save your important files and email messages from Laurea’s network before your account stops working.
  • You can remain a customer of the Laurea library. Update your contact details in Laurea Finna or at the library’s customer service if needed. Return loans you no longer need. If you have used the Tuudo library card, you can replace it by getting a regular library card from the library.
  • Save course descriptions for possible further studies from the curriculum.
  • If your Laurea email address is listed as a contact on online platforms or sites you used during your studies (e.g. Bulb), change your account’s contact information to a personal email address.
3. Answer the feedback survey and submit the notice of graduation

You can submit the notice of graduation when all studies required for the degree have been graded in the student register and you have uploaded your thesis to Theseus. (LINK TO THESEUS INSTRUCTIONS)

The date of graduation recorded on the degree certificate is the date you submitted the notice of graduation. If you have assessments recorded on the same day, the graduation date will be the next day. The graduation date cannot be 1.1. or 1.8.

If you are eligible for student financial aid and want to receive aid for the month in which you want to graduate, submit the notice of graduation on or after the 18th of the month. If you graduate earlier than the 18th, remember to cancel the student financial aid for that month.

Answer the feedback survey first. After answering the feedback survey, the system will automatically direct you to the notice of graduation. The page may load slowly, so please wait without closing the browser.

Log in to the feedback survey with your Laurea credentials (Haka login). Check your graduation prerequisites before giving feedback, as you can only log in to the feedback survey once. Feedback is handled anonymously and confidentially.

Check the background information in the survey. For master’s level UAS degrees (YAMK), the study mode is always listed as daytime teaching in the system regardless of the actual study mode. If you have multiple study rights, select the one from which you are graduating.

If you experience problems with the feedback system, contact avop@laurea.fi.

4. Receiving the degree certificate

The delivery time for the degree certificate is three weeks after the graduation date. Summer and Christmas holiday periods extend delivery times. See the exceptional schedule at the top of the page.

Laurea uses an electronic degree certificate, which is the official degree certificate of Laurea. After the graduation date, the student has 30 days to download the electronic degree certificate from Pakki using their own credentials.

If your account credentials have been closed, Study Services will send the degree certificate to your personal email address as an encrypted email.

The graduation information will appear in Pakki before the degree certificate is ready. Each graduate will receive an email with information and instructions when the electronic degree certificate can be downloaded from Pakki. You may print an unofficial paper copy of the certificate.

Note: if Pakki reports a system error to you, you can still download your degree certificate via the leaf icon in Pakki.

In case of problems, please contact Study Services.

5. Application for the rights to practise profession in social services and health care and ID card

If you graduate as a nurse, public health nurse, physiotherapist or social services professional (sosionomi), apply after graduation for the right to practise through the Finnish Supervisory Agency’s electronic services. No attachments are required for the application. The processing of the application is subject to a fee.

Finnish Supervisory Agency receives the notification of graduation about three days after the student has been marked as graduated in the register. The application cannot be submitted in advance before graduation.

If you graduate as both a public health nurse and a registered nurse on the same graduation date, submit a separate licensing application for each degree.

Further information on the right to practise profession (Finnish Supervisory Agency)

Once the right to practise profession has been granted, you can apply for a professional ID card for the social and healthcare sector. The professional ID card is used to identify users reliably in healthcare information systems and use electronic signatures in patient documents and prescriptions, so it is essential.

6. Graduation Ceremony

The Graduation Ceremony is held twice a year, in June and December. Study Services sends invitations to the Graduation Ceremony to graduates after each previous ceremony. Invitations are sent to the personal email address. Participants in the Graduation Ceremony receive a graduation cap.

The Spring 2026 Graduation Ceremony will be held Thu–Fri 4–5 June 2026 at the Leppävaara Campus. Read registration instructions in the announcement (LINK) and register for the Graduation Ceremony by 31st of May 2026 at the latest.

It is possible to register for the graduation ceremony even if you have not yet submitted your notice of graduation or it has not yet been processed by the time of the ceremony. You may therefore attend the ceremony if your graduation falls within the semester of that ceremony.

7. Graduate follow-up survey

The graduate follow-up survey examines the work and career situation of graduates from universities of applied sciences and how well the skills gained from education correspond to the skills needed in working life. The survey will be sent to you five years after graduation. Please respond to the follow-up survey, as your feedback is valuable for improving our education. Read more about the survey: Graduate follow-up survey for universities of applied sciences
