A development project for the renewed public health nurse education programme. The project will be implemented through cooperation between universities of applied sciences that provide public health nurse education during the years 2026 and 2027, with a strong emphasis on 2026.

Project background

Laurea University of Applied Sciences coordinates the development project. The project is divided into four work packages, each led by a different university of applied sciences. Work Package 2 focuses on the development of student selection and is led by Laurea, with Kajaani, Oulu, and Vaasa Universities of Applied Sciences as partners. Work Package 3 is responsible for curriculum development and is led by LAB University of Applied Sciences; the other partners in this work package are Centria, Diak, Karelia, Novia, and the Universities of Applied Sciences of Lapland, Seinäjoki, and Turku. Work Package 4 focuses on the development of cooperation with working life and clinical placements. This work package is led by Tampere University of Applied Sciences in collaboration with Arcada, HAMK, Metropolia, Savonia, and XAMK

Project objectives

The purpose of the project is to develop national recommendations for the implementation of the renewed public health nurse education programme. Within the project, different working groups are responsible for developing student selection, the curriculum, cooperation with working life, and clinical placements, as well as for formulating these national recommendations for the renewed public health nurse education.
