Master’s Degree in Development and Management of Cosmetics Expertise opens doors to an international career

“Aesthetic medicine offers a very wide range of opportunities to employ yourself”, says Sonja Tammentie, as she shares her career journey from running her own beauty salon to working as a regional manager for a Swiss pharmaceutical company.

For Sonja, the most valuable aspects of her Master’s studies in Development and Management of Cosmetics Expertise in her current role have been leadership skills, both in leading herself and supporting her team, as well as effective time management. “The way I studied in Laurea was hectic and so is my job at the moment as well. So it’s very important for me to be able to balance my work life as well as everything else in my life”, she says.

Sonja highlights the importance of understanding local markets, consumer base, customers and language in the international aesthetic medicine business. According to her, Laurea’s Master’s degree gives the tool pack for working in international companies, both in Finland and abroad, while also deepening understanding of the industry itself.

“You can create your own career either with doing consumer work, trainings or whatever you find the most interesting for yourself”, Sonja concludes.
