Background

The Xpanding Innovative Alliance (XiA) project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme and represents a significant milestone in the field of digital healthcare. Building on the successful foundation of the XpanDH project, XiA aims to address key interoperability challenges while preparing healthcare professionals for the advanced standards introduced by the European Health Data Space (EHDS) regulation. The project is also aligned with the Pact for Skills initiative, which brings together public and private organisations and encourages them to make concrete commitments to upskilling and reskilling adults.

Continuing the Success of XpanDH

The XiA project builds on the strong foundation established by the XpanDH initiative, which pioneered the development of scalable training solutions for healthcare interoperability. Leveraging the networks, expertise, and resources created through XpanDH, XiA focuses on expanding training frameworks and providing practical, real-world applications. The project aims to develop and disseminate high-quality learning materials and training courses that equip healthcare professionals, IT stakeholders, and digital health solution developers with the skills needed to implement EHDS-related standards and foster a culture of interoperability.

Objectives

XiA is a pioneering initiative in digital healthcare that responds to the critical need for harmonised and advanced interoperability skills across the healthcare sector. Through innovative training approaches, the project aims to bridge the existing skills gap between IT professionals, healthcare providers, and implementers of the European Health Data Space (EHDS) and the European Electronic Health Record Exchange Format (EEHRxF). By promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing, XiA will make a significant contribution to building a more efficient, integrated, and patient-centred European healthcare ecosystem.
