The Competence Bridge – Impactful RDI-driven skills development

Project backgroud

Research, development, and innovation (RDI) projects generate not only new knowledge and solutions but also valuable expertise that deserves to be recognized.

The Competence Bridge builds new pathways for participation and learning in the research, development, and innovation activities of universities of applied sciences. In this project, we are developing a national model that translates the work phases of RDI projects into learning outcomes, enabling the expertise gained through these projects to be identified, assessed, and recognized.

Project goals

In the Competence Bridge project we are:

• compiling best practices from universities of applied sciences
• developing the model in collaboration with higher education institutions and working life partners
• testing the model in RDI projects at five universities of applied sciences
• producing an open toolkit, a guide, and impact assessment tools

As a result, RDI projects open up new, practice-based opportunities for those in the workforce to develop their competencies.

Target audience

The project’s target groups include RDI and teaching staff at universities of applied sciences, working-age learners, and stakeholders in working life and regional innovation ecosystems.
