Project Background

The project addresses the genuine labour shortage facing the European Union’s tourism sector by bringing together the expertise of diverse stakeholders within an international consortium. Its objective is to improve access to jobs and workforce opportunities in the tourism industry while strengthening the sector’s skills base.

Project partners and associated stakeholders are concerned about the changing skills requirements of the industry and anticipate a growing need to equip workers with the competencies required by the digital and green transitions from a lifelong learning perspective. For example, people with migrant backgrounds and older adults represent a significant, yet often underutilised, labour pool. They may be incorrectly perceived as lacking education or the necessary skills, and they can face discrimination in the labour market.

Project Objectives and Activities

The project will create an innovative educational ecosystem designed to strengthen learners’ green, digital, and intrapreneurial skills while increasing the resilience of the tourism sector, enhancing its ability to adapt to change and overcome challenges.

The RESKILL Academy collaboration and learning platform will bring together tourism industry employers, job seekers, and skills development providers. The platform will enable the efficient and impactful development of new competencies, help address skills gaps, and contribute to balancing the supply and demand of labour within Europe’s tourism sector.

To achieve these objectives, the project will design and develop new educational programmes for both Higher Education (HE) and Vocational Education and Training (VET). At the same time, it will build bridges between these educational levels and complement them with opportunities for non-formal learning and training.
