Did you miss out on a study place in the joint application? Are you wondering what you should study next? The study voucher gives you the opportunity to get to know higher education studying or to progress purposefully towards degree studies.
What is the study voucher?
Did you apply in the spring 2026 joint application for higher education studies? If you are left without a study place or do not accept an offered place, you will receive a study voucher worth 30 ECTS credits for open university studies. With the voucher you can get to know higher education studying, explore a specific field or aim towards degree studies.
- The study voucher is a payment method worth 30 ECTS credits for studies at Finnish open universities and open universities of applied sciences.
- The study voucher is valid for two years from when all the joint application results are confirmed in August 2026.
- You can use the study voucher at your own pace – you do not have to use the entire voucher at once.
- The first study vouchers will become available in autumn 2026.
Can I get a study voucher in 2026?
You can receive a study voucher in August 2026 if
- you have completed your first post-secondary qualification (matriculation examination, vocational upper secondary qualification or vocational qualification) after 1 December 2025,
- you are under 29 years old on the day you graduated from upper secondary education
- and you applied in the spring 2026 joint application but did not receive or did not accept the study place offered from a university.
The study voucher is granted automatically to everyone who meets its conditions.
How do I activate the study voucher?
You can activate your study voucher starting 5 August 2026, when the joint application selections are confirmed and acceptance from waiting lists has ended. You do not need to apply for the voucher separately and activating it does not commit you to anything.
Activate the study voucher by logging in to the Opin.fi service.
From August 2026 onwards you can use the study voucher as a payment method when enrolling in open higher education studies found via the Opin.fi service. The service lists thousands of open courses from more than 30 Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences.
Use the study voucher for studies in Laurea’s Open UAS
At Laurea Open University of Applied Sciences you can study higher education level courses and course modules. You will find offerings from all our degree programmes and on numerous topics. Much of the Open UAS course offering is implemented as flexible online studies, but there are also courses available as contact teaching.
You can find Laurea Open UAS’s autumn 2026 course offering in the Opin.fi service at the end of May 2026.
