From a path student to a degree student
Congratulations for a new degree student! Please read the information meant for students who have been accepted as a degree student based on studies at Laurea Open UAS.
Information for students who have been accepted as a degree student based on studies at Laurea Open UAS.
Registering as present or absent for the academic year
In addition to confirming your study place, you also have to register as present or absent for the academic year via the My Studyinfo service (OILI). This applies to Laurea’s path students (even if you have enrolled for study units for the next semester). Failure to register for the academic year in Oili results in loss of study entitlement.
Activating new user account
Your study entitlement as a degree student will begin either January 1st (students selected in the Autumn semester separate application) or August 1st (students selected in the Spring semester separate application). Please activate your new account at https://my.laurea.fi using your Finnish online bank ID under I'm a new user and I want to activate my user account. When you become a degree student, your student account changes, which means that your student number changes, as well. You can see your new student number when you activate your student account. Please make sure you save all important files before you activate the new account.
Directions concerning email if you have completed your path studies at Laurea Open UAS
Please note that when you become a degree student, you will get a new student number and email. The previous student number will stop working as a user account. The email address you have had during your path studies will remain the same, unless you want to start using the new, longer address: email@example.com.
Please note that although the email address stays the same, the emails received during path studies will not be stored – save all important messages before you activate the new user account.
Make sure you save all the files you need from your Open UAS account As you will receive a new user account as a degree student, all files and messages linked with your previous account will be deleted. This concerns files in Optima, network folders and messages in your Laurea email. Please, make sure you have all necessary files saved before you activate your new student number. You should save the information you want to keep before your study entitlement in the Open UAS ends.
Study unit enrolments
During spring/autumn semester, you have enrolled for study units with your Open UAS student number. The student affairs office will transfer your enrolments to your new degree student account before teaching begins. If you have unfinished study units, you can complete them during your degree studies. Regarding unfinished study units, make sure you ask the teachers to add you to these Optima workspaces with your new student number.
Transferring credits to your degree account
The student affairs office will transfer your path studies to your new degree student account within approximately three weeks from the beginning of your study entitlement. You will receive a notification when this is done. Check the transferred credits and contact the student affairs office if you have any questions. If you have completed your path studies at another UAS than Laurea, please contact your tutor teacher or the head of student affairs at your campus.
Registering path studies as finished
When your study entitlement in path studies ends (either 31 July or 31 December), your Open UAS account will be closed. The student affairs office will register your path studies finished when all credits and enrolments have been transferred to your degree student account.
Study place received through the joint application system
If you have been accepted through the joint application system, but you have studied at Laurea Open UAS, your study entitlement starts at the same time as for other new students. Recognition of previous studies will be done in approximately three weeks from the beginning of your study entitlement. The student affairs office will notify you when credits have been transferred.
