Accessibility report

This is the accessibility report for, the 2,031-page website of Laurea University of Applied Sciences published in 2018. The statement describes how our web service meets the accessibility requirements laid down in the Act on the Provision of Digital Services (306/2019).

The accessibility of Laurea’s website was assessed by a third party in December 2018. Some of the accessibility issues specified in the report have been remedied. The website was also assessed as part of an international student project in May 2019. We received good proposals and the development of our website continues.

The accessibility statement was updated on 3 August 2020.

The latest update on 28 January 2021 was based on Laurea's internal accessibility monitoring, in which an automated accessibility checker tool was used.

Accessibility of the digital service

Laurea’s website partly meets the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Recommendations (WCAG 2.1) levels A and AA.

The website does not yet fully meet the accessibility requirements under the Act on the Provision of Digital Services (306/2019).

Inaccessible content

Since 23 September 2018, pdf files have been published in the web service that are not accessible for the part of the language selection, headings or text alternatives for images.

Non-text content Level A

Images on the web pages lack a text alternative (WCAG 1.1.1) or, on the oldest pages, the text alternative is the image file name. The problem occurs on the oldest news pages and the English website, on the project page, on the pages related to education and continuing education and in company logos. These problems are currently being fixed.

Info and relationships Level A

Heading text is missing (WCAG 1.3.1). There are errors on pages related to projects and education as well as on the English pages on degree-awarding education (WCAG 2.4.10).

HTML code has been used to format content instead of CSS (WCAG 1.3.1).

The input field does not contain descriptions for form fields (WCAG 1.3.1, 3.3.2 and 4.1.2).

Form elements are not grouped (WCAG 1.3.1, 3.3.2).

Link purpose (in context) Level A, link purpose (link only), Level AAA

Link text is used to refer to several destinations, or the link text is too generic in its current context, or a linked image is missing alternative text (WCAG 2.4.4, 2.4.9). This issue may occur in the ‘Latest news and articles’ section of our website.

Section headings level AAA

Heading indentation problems (WCAG 2.4.10).

Parsing Level A

Duplicate ID attributes (WCAG 4.1.1).

Name, role, value Level A

IFrame is missing a description (WCAG 4.1.2). The use of descriptions is recommended. This issue occurs in embedded videos on our website.

The site may have content to which the Act is not applicable

  • Time-phased media published before 23 September 2020.
  • Office software files released before 23 September 2018.
  • User content on social media.
