Project Background
YSI-ACT aims to promote active participation among citizens, particularly young people, through non-formal education and creative, participatory methods, in line with the democratic values of the European Union. The project seeks to advance human rights and work towards building a more inclusive and egalitarian society for everyone, regardless of origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, abilities, or other factors.
The project is coordinated by Associacio La Xixa Teatre (Spain), with partners including Laurea University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Active Bulgarian Society – ABS (Bulgaria), and Neolea Gia Antalagi Kai Katanoisi – YEU (Cyprus).
Project Objectives
1. Combating Prejudices and Discrimination
The project critically addresses prejudices, stereotypes, and discrimination by directly involving individuals in vulnerable situations who may face discrimination due to their origin, legal status, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or abilities. Youth participants will be informed about the EU mechanisms that safeguard fundamental rights, including bodies, institutions, processes, treaties, and charters.
2. Promoting Participation and Solidarity
The project aims to develop the necessary skills and social-emotional competencies among young people to enable more active participation in society. Additionally, it will foster youth-led initiatives that promote solidarity and inclusion.
3. Developing and Sharing Innovative Methodologies
The project will develop and share innovative methods for youth workers that combine non-formal education with creative and participatory approaches, such as Forum Theatre, to promote active citizenship and solidarity among young people.
