Project Background
The European aerospace and defence sector is facing a growing skills gap. The industry needs hundreds of thousands of new professionals, while technological change is rapidly transforming jobs and competence requirements. Companies, education providers, and policymakers need better information about future skills needs and practical ways to develop the workforce. AEROFUSE was established to address these challenges and help ensure that Europe has the talent needed for future growth and innovation.
Project Objectives

Support companies in finding and developing the workforce they need.
Strengthen the competitiveness and resilience of the sector.
For education and training providers
Develop modern curricula that match industry needs.
Improve opportunities for upskilling and reskilling.
Promote lifelong learning across Europe.
For policymakers and stakeholders
Provide reliable skills intelligence and forecasting tools.
Support long-term workforce planning and skills development strategies.
Strengthen cooperation between industry, education, and governance.
Project Activities
Map current and emerging skills needs in the aerospace and defence sector.
Analyse skills gaps and future workforce trends.
Develop skills intelligence and forecasting tools.
Create new curricula for higher education and vocational education and training.
Pilot training programmes for upskilling and reskilling.
Organise industry challenges, awareness events, and job fairs.
Build a European network that connects companies, education providers, and public stakeholders.
Publish reports, forecasts, and practical recommendations to support workforce development.
Results and Outputs
AEROFUSE will deliver skills intelligence tools, foresight reports, future skills forecasts, and new training curricula for the aerospace and defence sector. The project will also produce pilot training programmes, recommendations for workforce development, and a long-term strategy to help organisations respond to changing skills needs. Through its European partnership, AEROFUSE will strengthen collaboration and support a more skilled, competitive, and sustainable sector.
