How to apply as an exchange student to Laurea

Exchange programmes at Laurea University of Applied Sciences are meant for students from Laurea’s international partner institutions. Studies can last one or two semesters.

Nomination

Students are nominated by their home university coordinator through Laurea’s online nomination system, SoleMove. Please contact intl.info.fi for more guidance.

Nomination deadlines:

April 15 (Autumn Semester or the Academic Year)
May 1 (Spring Semester)

Online application

At the latest once the nomination period has ended, the student will receive the application instructions by email. Send your online application via the SoleMove platform by the deadline.

Application deadlines:

May 1 (Autumn Semester or the Academic Year)
October 31 (Spring Semester)

A motivation letter must be attached to the application. The motivation letter should address the questions below:

What kind of studies have you planned to take during your exchange and why?
Why are you applying for exchange?
How will the exchange support your personal learning and career prospects?

Students will receive a decision on acceptance as an exchange student no later than two weeks after the end of the application period.

Apply for housing

Laurea University of Applied Sciences does not have its own student dormitories. Housing is available through the student housing company called HOAS and other private companies.

Each student is responsible for applying for housing independently. Laurea UAS cannot guarantee a place in a student housing for all incoming exchange students since the student housing quota is limited. More information on the student housing.

The application period for HOAS exchange student apartments begins:

April 1 (Autumn Semester or the Academic Year)
September 30 (Spring Semester)

Enroll for studies

Exchange students enrol for their studies before arriving in Finland, in May (for Autumn semester) and in November (for Spring semester). Students who are on exchange for the whole academic year enrol for studies at both times. More practical instructions will be given for admitted students.
