Circular Economy for Sustainable Growth study path launched
Haaga-Helia, Laurea and Metropolia Universities of Applied Sciences (3UAS) in cooperation with the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra are launching new study path which will focus on Circular Economy. Sitra has been selected as the winner in the Circular Awards to be a pioneer at the transition to a circular economy.
Sitra and the 3UAS agree that the abilities to create sustainable business from circular economy, and to adapt your business to circular economy, are vital for future competitiveness. However, students do not encounter circular economy in their studies at the moment. These students should have the right during their studies to gain basic understanding of the opportunities and challenges created by the transformation to circular economy. The introduction of circular economy concepts and the ability to adapt business modelling and service design skills to circular economy will enable these students to develop new competitive circular and sharing-economy based solutions for future needs.
The target is to build an innovative and rewarding 3UAS study path which aims to engage international students from various different backgrounds to work towards a circular economy with regional, national and international companies. The planned study modules will be made available in English to both widen their reach and thus impact and, on the other hand, to ensure international competence growth for the Finnish circular economy companies.
The study path will include three independent modules:
1.Towards a Sustainable Consumer Society
2.New Business Models in Circular Economy
3.Service Design for Circular Economy
Each of the modules includes various lessons online and/or in classroom. Close cooperation with business life is paramount. Besides learning about circular economy, the students will learn important team working skills, time management and modern communication technologies.
