Laurea University of Applied Sciences has launched an international key partnership with Traxon e:cue, a globally recognized leader in architectural lighting and smart technology solutions. The partnership opens new opportunities for students, businesses, and international collaboration, while strengthening Laurea’s role as a globally connected university of applied sciences.

Traxon e:cue, part of the Prosperity Group, is known for delivering innovative lighting and smart technology solutions for cities, buildings, public spaces, entertainment venues, and large-scale architectural projects around the world. The company operates internationally and has contributed to numerous landmark projects across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North America.

The collaboration was further developed during a meeting in Beijing in May, where Laurea’s Director of Key Partnerships and Business Collaboration, Ilkka Kurkela, met with representatives of Traxon e:cue to plan the next steps of the partnership.

The cooperation will begin with a student project led by Laurea Senior Lecturer Tero Uusitalo. The project will provide students with a unique opportunity to work in an international business environment while helping the company explore opportunities in the Finnish market.

“It has been exciting to launch a project where students can participate in a truly global learning environment. Laurea’s project-based learning approach provides an excellent platform for developing practical solutions that support the needs of international companies. At the same time, students gain valuable experience from real business challenges,” says Kurkela.

The first project will focus on identifying opportunities in the Finnish market and gathering insights that can support both market development and future product enhancement for Traxon e:cue:

“Forming a partnership with Laurea perfectly aligns with the academia-industry integration strategy of Traxon e:cue, an invested brand under Prosperity Group . We’re excited to empower students through real international business projects, meanwhile Prosperity Group will gain valuable insights into the Finnish market via the upcoming student cooperation program. We also look forward to deepening long-term bilateral collaboration between our group and Laurea in the future,” says Kitty Zhao, Deputy General Manager & CFO of Prosperity Group.

For Laurea, the partnership represents much more than a single project. It demonstrates how international business collaboration can create value for all parties involved. Students gain access to global networks and real-life development projects, while companies benefit from fresh perspectives, research-based expertise, and future talent.

“International key partnerships offer enormous potential. They allow us to connect education, innovation, and business development across borders. This collaboration with Traxon e:cue is an excellent example of how we can create meaningful opportunities together, Kurkela concludes.

As Laurea continues to expand its international partnership network, collaborations such as this strengthen its mission of building a sustainable future together with working life and providing students with authentic opportunities to learn, innovate, and contribute in a global context.
