Lecturer Pertti Vuorinen from the Tikkurila Campus was awarded the title of Laurea staff member of the year 2015.
The title of Laurea staff member of the year was awarded to an experienced and versatile expert.
Each year, Laurea University of Applied Sciences rewards a member of its staff who has acted especially commendably. The primary criterion for awarding the prize is that the recipient has acted in accordance with Laurea's values and Ethical Code of Conduct. This year's selection process specifically emphasised the reform of the university community.
Lecturer Pertti Vuorinen from the Tikkurila Campus was awarded the title of Laurea staff member of the year 2015. Mr Vuorinen, who has taught at Laurea from the time it was established, teaches IT, mathematics and statistics to students of different fields in Tikkurila.
The reasoning given for Mr Vuorinen's selection included him being a long-term member of the staff who has participated in a versatile way in Laurea's development since the university of applied sciences was established. Both staff and students value Mr Vuorinen's long experience. He also actively shares his expertise. He is seen as a positive person who maintains high spirits in the entire Laurea community.
"Being named Laurea staff member of 2015 feels fantastic – and surprising," Pertti Vuorinen commented on his award.
"I believe that my work at the grass-root level with students influenced my selection. The best part of working as a teacher is indeed working with students, helping them graduate and following their development.
The Laurea Board selects the staff member of the year on the basis of a proposal by the selection committee. The selection committee has requested nominations over the spring for persons or teams who deserve to be acknowledged. Every Laurea student and staff member has had the opportunity to propose a nominee.
