Laurea students succesful in Sense business idea competition

Sense is a business idea competition for all students of HAMK, Lahti UAS and Laurea. This year closer to three hundred students participated in the competition. The students could enter their ideas for the competition from September 2015 to March 2016 and about 100 business ideas were submitted. Each FUAS member institution selected the most potential ideas for the finale held on 12.5. at Lahti UAS’s FelmanniCampus.

In the finale the ideas were estimated on base of four different criteria; innovativeness, adaptability, interestingness and saleability. At the end of the finale the students had three minute pitches to convince the jury

The jury consisted of Timo Liukko, the managing director of First Round Oy, Mikko Kyle company developer of LADEC Oy, Jake Ahopelto from M-IDEA and Brazilian teachers Rodrigo Augusto da Silava Alaves and Alexandre Fonseca D’Andréa. The jury both supported the students on presenting and developing their ideas as well as assessed the ideas.

FoFo Delights from Laurea won the competition. Laurea students Fatima Habebin and Viliina Kettunen's  FoFo produces customer-oriented cakes and pastries. The jury congratulated the winners especially on their interesting business model. FFH Studios from LAMK received the second place and Neuvola Plus from Laurea the third place.

Sense 2015-2016 was successful and the students really gave their best in the finale. According to the senior lecturer Vesa Tuomela, the cooperation between the FUAS member institutions contributes a lot to the competitions. Through the competition the students are able to learn from each other and at the same time the staff is able to develop their own know-how and to challenge themselves as well.
