Key partners
Kela
The Social Insurance Institution (Kela) provides basic security for people covered by Finland’s social security in various life situations.

Collaboration with Laurea
The key partnership enables even closer and more versatile collaboration between Laurea and Kela. In practice, the collaboration has included, for example, student projects.
- Student collaboration has taken place, for example, in service design and legal design studies.
- Students from different fields have collaborated with Kela on theses and internships.
Many topics in Kela’s work align well with what is done at Laurea in education and research. Examples include, for instance, service design or topics related to information processing.

Kela as an organisation
Kela’s mission is to secure the population’s basic livelihood, promote health and support independent coping in various life situations. Kela’s clients are all people living in Finland and those living abroad who are covered by Finland’s social security.
Kela employs professionals from many fields, and they are united by the fact that each does good for society through their work. Over half of Kela’s employees handle clients’ benefit applications in their work. In addition, Kela offers career paths, for example, in planning, development, communications, legal affairs and management.
