Content of the Management Accounting
Learn to prepare operational budgets and understand the key issues in strategic budgeting. Make conclusions on past performance and act respectively in future planning.
Capital budgeting is the process of deciding whether or not to undertake an investment project. Should we start a new production line? Should we buy new machinery? Is this project profitable? Yes? No? The management needs to answer these kinds of questions and needs support in making important decisions about the future.
This competence module includes two courses. The duration of the module is 4 months. Teaching language is English.
Courses
Strategic Management Accounting (5 ECTS)
After the course you will be able to:
- prepare operational budgets and the master budget and link the budgets to each other
- understand the key issues in strategic budgeting, eg. long-term budgeting, balance sheet, investment planning, growth strategies
- make conclusions on past performance and act respectively in future planning
- understand the behavioral implications of the budgeting process
- use Balanced Scorecard as a planning tool
- set targets for an organization using financial ratios and key performance indicators (KPI)
Capital Budgeting (5 ECTS)
After the course you will be able to:
- set up a discounted cash flow analysis
- use investment criteria to determine whether or not a project is acceptable
- use scenario analysis and sensitivity analysis in decision making
- write an investment proposal for management
- use computer software in capital budgeting

All enrollments will be confirmed separately. Each approved participant will receive instructions before the start of the competence module.
