Student demonstration at Laurea campuses
Students of Laurea University of Applied Sciences have joined a wider protest and organised silent demonstration today in Tikkurila, Leppävaara and Otaniemi campuses.
The silent moment for the student livelihoods demonstration will criticise the government's planned cuts to student livelihoods. The government is preparing to freeze the index increases in student grants, while cuts are also being made to housing.
President, CEO Jouni Koski understands students' concerns and supported peaceful demonstrations on campuses.
- The students have our full support for their demands. The cuts planned by the government are an unreasonable burden for students. Their income must be sufficient to ensure their well-being and to study to the fullest extent possible," Koski stresses.
Demonstrations are underway in universities across Finland.
