Laurea University of Applied Sciences has terminated its cooperation with the Aesthetic Academy
Laurea has formally terminated its cooperation with the Aesthetic Academy as of 22 April 2026.
During the current week, Laurea University of Applied Sciences has been referenced in public media reporting concerning continuing professional education provided by the Aesthetic Academy related to the administration of injectable treatments for professionals in the social and healthcare sector. Laurea has independently designed and delivered its own distinct educational components in full compliance with higher education–level academic quality standards. Following the public disclosure of misconduct associated with Nordicshape, Laurea has formally terminated its cooperation with the Aesthetic Academy as of 22 April 2026.
Laurea University of Applied Sciences has provided, as a commissioned educational service, studies at European Qualifications Framework (EQF) level 6, comprising a total of 12 ECTS credits, to the Aesthetic Academy, which operates as a subsidiary of Nordicshape.
Laurea has been fully responsible for the academic content and delivery of its own educational components, which have been implemented in accordance with nationally and internationally recognised higher education quality criteria. The theoretical instruction delivered by Laurea’s senior lecturers and subject-matter experts has encompassed the following thematic areas: entrepreneurship, service marketing, skin anatomy and dermatological health, aseptic practices in the professional activities of aesthetic nursing, anticipation and management of acute situations, professional ethics, and advanced expert competence in aesthetic nursing, including consultation practices and evidence-based knowledge. The education provided by Laurea has not included aesthetic or invasive procedures, the operation of medical devices, nor the handling, administration, or use of medicinal products. Laurea has not engaged in cooperation with Nordicshape in relation to aesthetic treatments, and all Laurea-provided educational components have been delivered exclusively on Laurea’s own premises.
The Aesthetic Academy has borne full responsibility for the education it has independently implemented, including its pedagogical methods, equipment, and teaching materials, with all such activities conducted on the Academy’s premises. Laurea’s academic staff have not participated in the delivery, implementation, supervision, or monitoring of the Aesthetic Academy’s own training activities.
No new cohorts were initiated during the year 2026. Students belonging to the cohorts that commenced their studies in September and October 2025 will be enabled to complete the Laurea components of their studies. Credits completed at Laurea University of Applied Sciences will be formally recorded in the national Studyinfo (Opintopolku.fi) register.
In light of the public disclosure of misconduct associated with Nordicshape, Laurea University of Applied Sciences formally terminated its cooperation with the Aesthetic Academy on 22 April 2026. In parallel, a formal review process has been initiated with the objective of dissolving the existing key partnership agreement.
