General
These cancellation terms apply to fee-paying Open University of Applied Sciences studies offered by Laurea, as well as to other specialisationt and continuing education programmes, online courses, webinars, and other services, unless different terms are specified in the information provided for the particular product or service.
Product-specific terms, such as the start date of the training, the mode of delivery, the validity period of participation rights, and any other special conditions, are provided in the information relating to the specific course or service.
If the general cancellation terms conflict with the product-specific terms, the product-specific terms shall take precedence and apply in the first instance.
These terms do not limit any statutory rights to which consumers are entitled by law. These general cancellation terms are made available to customers before registration or purchase. Laurea reserves the right to amend these terms when necessary. The applicable terms are those that were available for review at the time of registration or when the order was placed.
The General Cancellation Terms were updated on 1 September 2026.
1. Open University of Applied Sciences Studies and Other Training Programmes
Enrolling for Open University of Applied Sciences studies and other training programmes, such as specialisation education programmes, is binding once you have submitted your registration, accepted the order, or received confirmation of your registration or purchase.
You are responsible for ensuring that the information provided during registration is accurate and that you meet any prerequisites for the training programme. By registering for a training programme, you accept the programme-specific terms and conditions.
Cancellation of Open UAS Studies and Other Training Programmes
You must submit your cancellation in writing via the contact channel specified by Laurea or in accordance with the instructions provided in the online shop.
If you cancel your enrolment
- no later than 14 days before the start of the training programme, no fee will be charged, or any fee already paid will be refunded.
- less than 14 days before the start of the training programme, Laurea reserves the right to charge the full fee.
No refund will be issued if you fail to attend the training programme without cancelling your registration or if you withdraw from a programme that has already commenced. In cases of serious illness or other comparable exceptional circumstances, Laurea may consider a refund on a case-by-case basis and may request appropriate supporting documentation to assess the situation.
Cancellation of Specialisation Education Programmes
For specialisation programmes, enrolment is binding. By submitting the application form, you commit to accepting the study place and paying the programme fee if the programme is delivered and you meet the admission requirements. Once Laurea has confirmed that the programme will proceed, the applicant will be charged the full programme fee in the event of cancellation or failure to cancel.
Changes or Cancellation by Laurea
Laurea reserves the right to make any necessary and reasonable changes to the delivery of the programme. However, such changes must not materially alter the core content or objectives of the programme.
Laurea may cancel a training programme due to insufficient participant numbers, illness, or another justified reason. Laurea will inform participants of any cancellation without delay once the decision has been made. If Laurea cancels a fee-paying training programme, any participation fee already paid will be refunded in full.
2. Nonstop Online Courses and Other Digital Learning Materials
For a self-paced online course (non-stop enrolment), access to the course and learning materials will be provided to you as soon as possible after payment has been received.
Please note that before accessing a fee-paying self-paced online course, the course contains digital learning content that is made available to you immediately upon activation of your access rights. By opening the course, you request that delivery of the content begins before the expiry of the 14-day cancellation period. At the same time, you acknowledge and agree that your right of cancellation will end once the delivery of the digital content has commenced.
If you have not yet accessed the course and the delivery of the digital content has not commenced, you may cancel your order within 14 days of purchase.
3. Scheduled Events
As a general rule, the right of cancellation does not apply to seminars, webinars, or other events held on a specific date or at a specific time. Any applicable right of cancellation, or the absence of such a right, will always be stated in the information provided for the event before registration.
4. Training Programmes and Services Ordered by Organisations
These terms apply to training programmes, coaching services, workshops, consultancy services, and other services commissioned by companies, public sector organisations, and other organisations, unless otherwise agreed in the quotation or in a separate contract.
Cancellation
Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing through the contact channel specified by Laurea. If the order is cancelled
- no later than 30 days before the agreed delivery date, the customer will not be charged any fee.
- less than 30 days before the agreed delivery date, Laurea reserves the right to charge the full agreed price of the training programme or service, as the resources, staff allocations, and other preparations required for delivery will already have been arranged specifically for the commissioned assignment.
Rescheduling of a Training Programme or Service
If the customer requests that the agreed start date of the training programme or service be postponed less than 30 days before the scheduled commencement date:
- Laurea reserves the right to charge a modification fee equivalent to 20% of the price of the training programme or service.
- Laurea will assess on a case-by-case basis whether the rescheduling can be accommodated. If the proposed new date is not feasible for delivery or if the rescheduling would cause Laurea unreasonable inconvenience, Laurea reserves the right to charge the full fee for the training programme or service.
Any request to reschedule must be submitted in writing via the contact channel specified by Laurea.
Participant Substitution
The customer may replace a registered participant with another person before the training programme or service begins, provided that the change is feasible from a delivery perspective and does not affect the conditions required for the training programme or service to be delivered.
If the substitution of a participant results in additional work for Laurea, Laurea reserves the right to charge a separate fee for the substitution.
Changes or Cancellation by Laurea
Laurea reserves the right to make any necessary and reasonable changes to the delivery of the training. However, such changes must not materially alter the essential content or objectives of the training. Laurea may, for example, make reasonable changes to the method of delivery, the trainer, or the training venue.
Laurea reserves the right to cancel a training programme or service, for example due to the unavailability of the trainer or for another justified reason. Laurea will notify the customer of any cancellation without undue delay after the decision to cancel has been made. If Laurea cancels an agreed training programme or service in its entirety, any fees already paid will be refunded in full. Laurea shall not be liable for any indirect costs incurred by the customer, such as travel or accommodation expenses, unless otherwise required by mandatory law.
Validity and Order of Precedence of These Terms and Conditions
Where product-specific terms have been provided in relation to a training programme or service, or where a separate agreement exists between the parties, those terms shall take precedence over these General Cancellation Terms. The cancellation terms applicable are those that were available to the customer at the time of registration or placement of the order. Laurea reserves the right to amend these terms. Any such amendments shall not affect orders or registrations that have already been made
