Career Monitoring Survey

The national career monitoring survey examines the employment and career situation of graduates from universities of applied sciences and how well the skills acquired from education correspond to the skills required in working life. The survey is sent to all graduates who completed their studies five years ago.

National career monitoring survey

The national career monitoring survey of universities of applied sciences is carried out annually among those who completed their studies five years earlier. The next survey will be conducted in autumn 2026 for everyone who completed bachelor and master degrees in 2021.

The career monitoring survey collects information on degree holders’ employment, career paths and satisfaction with their career and degree. The survey is a good opportunity for alumni to provide feedback. The results give important information about changes in working life for the development of teaching and continuous learning services. The data gathered from the survey is also important for prospective applicants and students who are considering their studies and future career plans.

Some questions are also used as a measure of qualitative employment for universities of applied sciences. Based on these questions, 3% of the basic funding for universities of applied sciences is determined.

The employment situation of Laurea graduates is excellent

In autumn 2025 the career monitoring survey was sent to all those who graduated in 2020. 751 alumni from Laurea responded to the survey.

According to the survey, the employment situation of those who graduated from Laurea five years ago is good. Of the respondents who graduated with Bachelor´s degree, 86% were in permanent full-time employment and 7% in fixed-term full-time employment. At the time of responding, just under 2% of respondents were unemployed.

At Laurea, close links to working life already during studies strongly support learning and students’ employment. Graduates from Laurea have always achieved excellent employment outcomes.

The respondents were satisfied with the degree they completed at Laurea: 88% of those who completed a Bachelor´s degree and 92% of those who completed a Master´s degree. Satisfaction with their career after studies was also high (87% of bachelor respondents and 91% of master respondents).

The career tracking survey also asks how likely the respondent would be to recommend their education to others. At Laurea, the willingness to recommend among those who completed a Bachelor´s degree has increased steadily over several years and rose further this year.
