EU-CIP – European Knowledge Hub and Policy Testbed for Critical Infrastructure Protection

The EU‑CIP project built a European knowledge network that brought together information on critical infrastructure protection. The project delivered analysis, tools, and services that helped policymakers and stakeholders improve security and resilience.

Funding

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under the grant agreement No 101073878

Project background

Critical infrastructures increasingly rely on digital systems and face complex cyber and hybrid threats. At the same time, knowledge on research, standards, and policies remains fragmented, making it difficult to use effectively in decision-making.

Project objectives

  • Build a pan-European knowledge network for critical infrastructure protection
  • Support policymaking with data-driven analysis and foresight
  • Strengthen innovation and collaboration among stakeholders
  • Enable better use of research results in practice

Project activities

The EU-CIP project

  • collected and analysed information on research, technologies, and policies
  • developed a FAIR-based data observatory and analytical methodology
  • built a Knowledge Hub to centralise project results
  • produced reports, studies, and sector-specific analyses
  • provided innovation support, validation, and commercialisation services
  • prganised events and built a European stakeholder ecosystem.

Results and outputs

The project delivered a European knowledge hub that integrates data, tools, and services for critical infrastructure protection. It also produced extensive datasets, reports, training services, and innovation support, and established a large stakeholder community of over 1,000 participants.

Consortium

The EU‑CIP project was carried out by an international consortium of around 19–20 organisations from several European countries. The partners represented research, industry, and public authorities, bringing strong expertise in critical infrastructure protection and EU-funded projects.
