FUNTER: Kestävästi tuotetut funktionaaliset luonnonmateriaalit terveystuotteissa
The aim of the project (Sustainably produced functional bio-based materials in health products) is to produce information on the sustainability, environmental impact, and multifunctionality of new bio-based raw materials. These raw materials are used in medicines and cosmetics. They can also be used to replace, for example, compounds that are harmful to the environment.

Our objective is to generate information regarding the sustainability, environmental impact, and multifunctionality of new bio-based raw materials. These raw materials are utilized in medicines and cosmetics. Examples of new materials for use include algae, fungal mycelium, plants, and industrial side streams. They can also serve as substitutes for environmentally harmful compounds, such as microplastics and titanium dioxide. The results of the project will particularly benefit companies in the target sectors as well as consumers.
Implementers: HAMK Bio (main implementer), University of Helsinki (Department of Pharmaceutic Chemistry and Technology) and Laurea University of Applied Sciences.
