Construction work underway at Hyvinkää Arena - new Laurea campus to be completed in 2027

The new premises for Laurea's Hyvinkää campus will be built in connection with the Hyvinkää Arena, which is currently under construction in Hyvinkää. The foundation stone for the Hyvinkää Arena was laid in a festive ceremony on Thursday, August 28, at the first event held at the arena construction site.   

Speakers at the ceremony included Johanna Luukkonen, Mayor of Hyvinkää; Antti Rantalainen, Chair of the City Council; SRV's Director of Business Premises and Infrastructure Jouni Forsman, Hyvinkää's Director of Education and Culture Mika Mäkelä, and Laurea's President, CEO Jouni Koski. The event also featured a performance by the Hyvinkää Orchestra string quartet.   

In keeping with tradition, a metal cylinder was cast into the arena's foundation, containing the arena's founding document, speeches, the program for the cornerstone laying ceremony, Laurea University of Applied Sciences' Annual Review and Impact Report for 2024, the Hyvinkää Sports Development Plan, the City of Hyvinkää's cultural operating model, the Aamuposti newspaper published on the day of the laying ceremony, current Finnish coins, the City of Hyvinkää's resident magazine, and the architect's plans. 

Hyvinkää Arena is being implemented by SRV in collaboration with the City of Hyvinkää and Laurea University of Applied Sciences. The Hyvinkää Arena construction project began with the development phase in October 2024, and construction work began in June 2025. The construction work is scheduled for completion in spring 2027. 

High-quality teaching facilities for Laurea will be built at Hyvinkää Arena, along with a multi-purpose hall that can accommodate events for up to 3,000 spectators, including international sporting events. In addition to the hall, the facilities will also include a running track, a gym, and a student and event restaurant. The facilities will also enable school and recreational sports alongside professional sports.
