Laurea University of Applied Sciences is an active player in the field of service business both in Finland and on the international level.  The share of services in employment and GDP is more than 70% both in Finland and globally. We live in a service economy and our well-being is based largely on the flexible development of services.

The significance of service business expertise has grown both in Finland and globally. In addition, we believe that preserving our future well-being and our competitiveness will increasingly depend on our ability to create new service innovations and to develop existing models of action. Successful service business activities require the adoption of new models and ways of thinking. Laurea has been a forerunner in the research and development activities of service businesses for years

The goal of our research and development activities is to create competitive enterprises and productive service business activities and to help organisations  understand and develop the operating principles of service logic in practice.

We will bring the latest research information and the most efficient service design tools to your use enabling the development of your activities through design. We are also an award-winning developer of the service design tools. 

Service innovations

We want to give rise to service innovations

Knowledge of service innovation activities is one of the cornerstones of future success. Service innovations come about from the understanding of the activities of the customers/users. The purpose of service innovations is to solve a problem in their activities, for example. Successful innovation brings benefits to customers –it creates new business activities for companies, and especially in the public sector, it enhances services that have already been produced.

 Digital services

Getting closer to the customer through digital services

Digital services create new global growth opportunities. At best, digital services can create added value in many ways both for customers and for the producers of services. The latest solutions bring the everyday lives of customers close to the producers of the service. Our experts research and develop.

Active in networks

In addition, we are actively involved in several service business networks, such as the Finnish Service Alliance, Service Design Network and European Living Labs
