Multicultural encounters on Laurea campus

Multicultural Encounters week (7.-11.11.2016) was celebrated at Tikkurila Laurea as a co-operation project between Social and Health Care Degree students and exchange students.

On Wednesday, the focus was on elderly wellness, and the activities included, for example, waka waka chair workout and getting to know the latest technological innovations, designed especially for the elderly. Throughout the week, one could enjoy the hospitality of an African village in Multisensory Open Learning Environment, and in the 3rd floor Student Living Room one could visit Asia, European countries as well as the Spanish speaking world.

Friday was dedicated for immigrant encounters, and over 100 Edupoli students visited Laurea and learned more about Finnish language and culture as well as Christmas and winter traditions, not to forget the memorable global karaoke that was maybe the biggest hit throughout the week.

The atmosphere during the week was warm and inviting, and the students got to know better their future clients, both the elderly and the immigrants.
