Laurea to foster Cybersecurity Industry in Europe

​​The European Commission signed the contract for Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with the European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO) for a strategic alliance in cybersecurity. The EU will invest 450 million euros in this partnership under its research and innovation program H2020. The signature ceremony was hosted by Vice president for Digital Single Market Andrus Ansip and Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Gunther Oettinger. The ceremony gathered high level ECSO member representatives from 48 public and private organisations in 14 different countries to Strasbourg.

"It is our ambition to stabilise cybersecurity in our digital infrastructure and to leverage upon our industries to develop a European culture of cybersecurity"

The new membership in ECSO and the PPP -contract continues the systematic development work of RDI and education in Laurea University of Applied Sciences. The membership opens a new possibilities for Laurea's RDI in this strategic research areas of health and wellbeing, service design and innovation as well as security with closer co-operation with european industry,​ public sector and for the third sectors as well as users. The membership also creates a new channel for partners of Laurea in the private and public sectors in the Uusimaa region to develop their own cybersecurity business.
