Laurea management have meeting with the South African Ambassador to Finland


​As part of their visit to Finland, the representatives of the University of Johannesburg and Laurea’s management also met Ms Carmen J. Smidt, the South African Ambassador to Finland. A meeting with the Ambassador was organised over dinner in Helsinki on Thursday 1st of December.

Over the dinner with Ambassador Smidt, the visitors discussed, for example, the relationships and cooperation between Finland and South Africa. Concrete forms of cooperation between higher education institutions were also discussed.

Professor Roy Marcus, the chair of the university’s Council, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Jaco van Schoor, as well as other people from the university’s management were the members of the delegation that participated in the meeting.

The top management of the University of Johannesburg visited Finland this week. The cooperation between the university and Laurea University of Applied Sciences began in spring 2016, and now the universities created concrete steps to intensify their cooperation.
