On 15 December 2016, the Laurea University of Applied Sciences Board of Directors appointed Katri Ojasalo, DSc. (Econ.) as vice president (education and regional development) of Laurea University of Applied Sciences. She will start in her new position on 1 January 2017.
Ms Ojasalo, a resident of Espoo, has worked at Laurea since 2000. She has strong experience in teaching and development of education in the higher education sector having worked as principal lecturer at Laurea and as a professor (acting) at the University of Tampere. She has also worked as a researcher and teacher at both the University of Tampere and the Hanken School of Economics
For the past few years, Katri Ojasalo has acted as Director of Master Level Education. While working as principal lecturer, Katri Ojasalo has taken part in building Laurea's Degree Programme in Service Innovation and Design, which has formed a strong foundation for Laurea's service design education.
- When I step into my position as vice president, I will be able to utilise my long experience at Laurea and within the higher education sector extensively, new Vice President Katri Ojasalo explains.
- Laurea, as an institution of higher education, is a wonderful working environment, as it has always been inclusive, future-oriented and agile with regard to change.
As vice president, Katri Ojasalo would like to add new tools to the strategy-based development of education at Laurea, the prediction of future possibilities and challenges and the implementation of needed changes.
- I would like to bring the best experts in education i.e. teachers, students and workplace representatives to the forefront of development work, Ojasalo states.
- My most important objective is to strengthen cooperation between education and RDI activities as well as between Bachelor's and Master's studies.
