Hospitality Management and Service Design degree programme offers insight to the future

The new programme for the Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management in English is scheduled to start in autumn 2020. The application period for the programme is from 8th to 22nd January 2020.

Laurea’s Bachelor degree programmes in hospitality management are known for their comprehensiveness. In the study modules involving service design and development, the students will have the opportunity to get to know the various actors in the field during their studies.

The Hospitality Management and Service Design programme was built during the past 12 months.

- We have invested a tremendous amount of in-house competence and skills on this inspiring process while at the same time drawing on the world around us,says Senior Lecturer Sini Setälä.

- Our most important motivation has been to facilitate education that is truly contemporary and reflects on how the things we now study will change in the future and how we should prepare for those changes, she adds.

The aim of the programme is to provide future professionals with the skills and knowledge that they need in order to be able to perform well in a changing business environment both in Finland and abroad. In this equation, experience of the various activities in the hospitality industry is definitely a plus, which makes the graduates from Laurea so sought-after in the business world.

- Laurea is known as a forerunner in service design. Here, students get familiar with the service design process and tools right from the first year, describes Development Manager Katri Korelin.

- In this new Bachelor’s degree programme, we have integrated service design into the hospitality management studies in a completely new way. The new, innovative programme is closely linked to our RDI ventures, enabling students to become involved in major development projects at home and abroad.
