Laurea has become a member of the Porvoo Climate Partners network.

Laurea has become a member of the Porvoo Climate Partners network. The agreement was signed at Porvoo City Hall on Thursday, May 22. Laurea joins 25 other organizations and companies operating in Porvoo that have set their own climate or environmental goals.
The Porvoo Climate Partners network is open to all organizations and supports them in areas such as developing green and sustainable business, acquiring knowledge and expertise, and building a climate- and environmentally-friendly image. The goal of the partnership is to strengthen circular economy-based and successful business in the Porvoo region and Eastern Uusimaa, particularly through research and development collaboration. The Porvoo Climate Partnership concept has been developed in the joint CO2Jump project by Laurea, the City of Porvoo, and Posintra. The project aims to enhance the climate resilience of SMEs and promote the municipality’s role as a climate leader.
- We are committed to purposefully developing cooperation with actors in Porvoo, especially in research, development, and innovation activities. In addition, we ensure the systematic utilization of the expertise and knowledge built in projects for the benefit of Porvoo and Uusimaa, said Markku Anttonen, Director of Laurea’s Research Program in Service Business and Circular Economy.
Mari Vuolteenaho, Vice Rector and Director of RDI at Laurea, signed the climate agreement on behalf of Laurea. Vuolteenaho sees great potential in the collaboration for research, development, innovation, and educational development.
- We are exploring opportunities together with various regional actors to build education that serves local businesses, strengthens expertise, and supports sustainable business, she said.
Speaking at the event, Porvoo Mayor Jani Pitkäniemi emphasized the city’s strong commitment to climate issues.
- Climate partnership involves collaboration and learning from one another. This baton can be passed on as many times as you like, Pitkäniemi encouraged.
