Erasmus+ project JeS had its Consortium Kick Off Meeting online 2.2.2023

Erasmus+ project JeS had its first Consortium meeting online 2.2.2023, facilitated and led by Laurea. The JeS project partners include University of Maribor from Slovenia, University College Leuven-Limburg and European Migrant Platform from Belgium, INCOMA from Spain, and CESIE from Italy. This 3-year project focuses on human rights and fair-trade promotion, preventing racism and discrimination and increasing the awareness of human rights violation detection and prevention within European higher education.

Building Inclusive Higher Education Systems

As Erasmus+ programme supports building inclusive higher education systems and stimulating innovative learning and teaching practices, also the JeS project promotes participation, human rights awareness, and the social responsibility of educational institutions to prevent racism and discrimination.

Joint Research and eStories

Exploitation of migrants and trafficking of human beings as well as unfair trade are issues that need to be addressed also in Europe, especially in the present fragile geopolitical situation. The JeS project will conduct research about latest human rights themes, including human dignity and human rights concerns that need to be included in all EU policies and programs, higher education included.

The JeS project wishes to put these topics, especially from the viewpoint of migrant labour issues and fair trade, into practice so that they can be an active part of varied students' everyday learning in different partner countries. Project partners will also engage in human rights awareness promotion and further human rights violation detection and prevention as well as make visible the stories of those in vulnerable situations.

With an open online learning environment created by JeS and by collecting and sharing real-life eStories in student and NGO workshops and courses, human rights knowledge and awareness can be advanced within European higher education.

JeS Toolkit and Training for European Teachers and Educators

The JeS project will also provide both a toolkit and training for European teachers and educators. In its different activities, JeS will also use varied creative and multisensory means, such as the Multisensory Space concept, created at Laurea.
