Operations at the Laurea campuses for the period of 3 August 2020–30 August 2020

  • Face-to-face teaching is possible ensuring that the group size does not exceed 50 persons. We aim to ensure sufficient social distancing (1-2 metres). When sufficient social distancing is not possible, for example in workshops, protective equipment will be used.

  • Exams requiring supervision will be organised on campus.
  • New students whose studies begin in the autumn of 2020 will start the semester staggered and in small groups on campuses.
  • Students in high-risk groups should avoid close contact during the epidemic and therefore, participation in face-to-face instruction is not recommended for them. (Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) Risk groups for coronavirus disease)
  • The cleaning of computers and other equipment on campuses will be increased. Users must clean the equipment before and after the use with cleaning utensils provided by Laurea.
  • You must not come to campus if you are ill or have symptoms.
  • The Student Services are available online and on campuses. Please see the student intranet LINK for the contact information.

  • There will be no incoming international student mobility at Laurea in the autumn of 2020. Possibility to attend to Laurea online courses will be offered to those students who had previously enrolled for an exchange period in Laurea.
  • Students who return from their exchange period in the summer will receive more detailed instructions from the exchange coordinator.

Shared events and other activities on our campuses

  • For the time being, no public or other events with more than 50 attendees will be organised on Laurea's campuses. For more information, if needed, please contact corona@laurea.fi . However, taking into consideration the overall coronavirus situation, exceptions to this can be made by the decision of the Director, Safety and Security, based on risk assessment.

Staff business travel and international mobility

  • Staff should refrain from travelling abroad on business.
  • There will be no outgoing and incoming international staff mobility.
  • Travel related to RDI projects and business operations is possible in cases where the activity in question cannot be provided online and when the trip can be carried out safely and in compliance with the authorities' guidelines. This will always require a specific risk assessment specifically for each planned trip. After the risk assessment, the Director, Safety and Security and the Vice President (RDI) will be consulted to determine whether to proceed with or refrain from travelling. A travel notification should be sent to matkaturva@laurea.fi.

Staff belonging to high-risk groups at work

  • The occupational health services will assess if an employee belongs to the high-risk group based on the guidelines issued by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL)) The decision on whether a member of the high-risk group may work will be made by the employer, who discusses the situation with the person in question and consults a representative of the occupational health services, if needed. It is important to remember that being in a high-risk group is not automatically an obstacle to entering the actual site of work on Laurea's campus.
  • A person who, based on the guidelines issued by THL, determines that they belong to the high-risk group and whose duties would, at least partially, be transferred to the campus in the autumn of 2020, should consult the occupational health services on their situation. At the occupational health services, coordinating physician Tapio Lahti is in charge of the process. Contacts with Aava concerning the high-risk group assessment should be made through the eAava service as follows:
  • Aava team in Tikkurila and Porvoo: public health nurse Niina Silvennoinen
  • Aava team in Tapiola: public health nurse Mari Valtimo
  • Aava team in Hyvinkää: Anne Mämmi
