President Pentti Rauhala receives Honorary Doctorate from the Japanese Tohoku Fukushi University ‎

Japanese Tohoku Fukushi University, based in Sendai, has conferred the university’s first Doctor Honoris Causa (Dr.h.c) title to the President of Laurea University of Applied Sciences Pentti Rauhala. Bases for the title are for example excellent contribution to international research and pedagogical development and leadership. Tohoku Fukushi University has been a strategic partner of Laurea University of Applied Sciences for about ten years. The cooperation has focused mainly on promoting the wellbeing of the elderly people. A great number of regional actors especially from the wellbeing sector such as representatives from the cities of Espoo and Vantaa take part in the research and development work in Finland. Student and staff exchange between Laurea and Tohoku Fukushi are an integral part of the cooperation.

The Honorary Doctorate was delivered to President Rauhala by Professor Koichi Ogasawara in the Finnish-Japanese seminar Smart Living for the Ageing.
