Grants to Laurea from the Ministry of Education and Culture

The Ministry of Education and Culture has granted two million euros for the Universities of Applied Sciences based on their productivity during 2010. Half of the money was granted for the Centres of Excellence chosen by the The Finnish Higher Education Evaluation Council. The other half was granted based on the Ministry's productivity indicators. Laurea received 170 000 euros in the Centre of Excellence category and 70 000 euros for the research and development work and volume.

The fact that the Ministry is granting the total sum of 240 000 euros to Laurea is a proof of the high quality, impact and effectiveness of Laurea’s activities.  It is also worth noting that half of Finland’s 25 Universities of Applied Sciences did not receive any grants at all.
