Laurea, HAMK and LAMK organised a joint orientation day for students going on student exchanges or placements in Laurea Tikkurila’s premises on Friday April 8th at 9.15-15.30. The day was open for all students who were interested in exchanges or placements abroad.
The orientation day was organised now for the second time. The programme started by an exhilarating speech from Laurea’s Senior lecturer Michael Hutchinson-Reis who talked about Finns abroad and continued with expert lectures on topics such as safety abroad by student Matias Lehtomäki from Laurea and health issues by Senior lecturer Kaija Heikkilä from Laurea. A new web site www.cityrabbits.com was also presented during the day by the creators of the site, two of Laurea’s students Elisa Jouttunpää and Heidi Raunio. The common part of the day ended with an exciting presentation about meeting different cultures by senior lecturer Brian Joyce from HAMK. In the afternoon the participants were divided into country-specific groups where they could discuss mobility issues and listen to the experiences of other students.
The orientation day was successful in hosting almost 160 students and there were altogether 10 different country groups. The feedback from the participants was overall positive.
