Student / teacher ratio
Laurea’s target: the proportion of degree students (FTE) to teaching staff is 19,5.
Laurea’s starting level in 2009: students / teaching staff 20.5
Degree students (FTE= Full-time equivalent) refer to the computational number of full-time degree students according to the situation on 20 September. Calculations and conversion factors are implemented as follows:
1. All Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students registered as absent: FTE factor = 0
2. Degree students registered as present:
a) All new students registered as present are full-time students, FTE factor = 1
b) Degree students who have completed at least 30 credits during the previous academic year are full-time students, FTE factor = 1
c) Degree students who have completed less than 30 credits during the previous academic year are part—time students, FTE factor = 0.5
d) Master’s students registered as present are part-time students, FTE factor = 0.5
The student information is established on individual-based student data on 20th of September,
submitted to Statistics Finland / Ministry of Education (WinhaPro), and personnel data is established on reported personnel data on 31 December of the year under review. In calculating the number of full-time teachers, lecturers are included in local unit data.
The information is generated by the local units, regional units and Laurea as a whole.
